SHE INITIAITVE: increasing the girl-child’s participation and proficiency in the fields of STEMMA.

The SHE Initiative is a science and technology immersion program designed to offer girls from low and middle-income families a unique opportunity to experience science and technology in relatable, interactive and fun ways.  Through delivery of a residential science camp, follow up in-school science clubs and a facilitated online peer network; CKF seeks to further its two-pronged goal of advancing the girl-child’s participation and proficiency in STEMMA (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, music and agriculture) fields.
Objectives of the programme are to:

  • Offer a fun-filled experience that impacts a lasting and positive impression of science and technology, and provides actionable knowledge
  • Expose girls to innovative possibilities in Science, Technology and Engineering
  • Connect girls with a broad array of female role models at different stages in their science careers – through camp sessions and in-school component
  • Deliver leadership, life-skills and ethics training to participants
  • Support on-going quality science interaction and education
  • Build and facilitate a peer community of SHE initiative participants
