Christopher Kolade Foundation (CKF) hosted a pilot Holiday English Language Programme (HELP), designed to improve the English language proficiency of its SHE Initiative girls.
The HELP, a non-residential workshop, was held in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Education - District VI from August 15th to 26th. 86 girls attended the workshop held in three centers– Okota (27), Ilupeju (25) and Ojodu (34).
The programme’s training faculty comprised six expert English language teachers identified within the Education District VI.
CKF Board Chairman, Mrs Beatrice Kolade, visited two of the workshop locations, Babs Fafunwa Millennium Senior Grammar School and Ilupeju Senior Grammar School, to observe the sessions and inspire the girls; on the need to strive for self-improvement in all aspects of their lives. The TG/PS Education District VI also paid an unscheduled visit to the three workshop centres.
Feedback from the students and their test scores indicates a significant improvement in their understanding of English from programme entry to exit.
