The Christopher Kolade Award for Excellence in Music is designed to recognize and honor individual achievement, innovation, and creativity in the field of music. The goals of the Prize are to reward talented music students, encourage them to persist in building a career in the field of music, and motivate other students towards creativity and excellence.

Five outstanding university-level music professionals who demonstrated outstanding musical merit and promise were beneficiaries of the 2015 awards. Awardees each received a N250, 000 cash gift which they could apply towards advanced studies in music, in the pursuit of a professional career in music or other activities that can facilitate their professional advancement.
